One door and a hundred doors are different purchases

Someone buying a door for one flat looks at model, colour and price. Someone buying for a hundred-unit block has different problems: in what order the doors reach site, where they are stored, which floor is fitted which week, and whether the same lock case exists in two years.

In volume purchasing the model is not the first decision. The size and quantity breakdown is; the model is dressed onto that skeleton afterwards.

Standardising sizes saves the most money

Every additional size splits the production run. Twenty flats with eighteen openings at 90 × 200 cm and two odd sizes means those two leave the flow, and their cost comes less from their dimensions than from interrupting the line.

So the most profitable move at project start is reducing the number of sizes. Leaving rough openings to standard dimensions is a small discipline on site and a visible saving on the doors. With 90 × 200 cm clear for apartments and 145 × 215 cm for entrances, production runs as one batch.

What a quotation request needs

  • Quantity per clear opening size.
  • Quantity per handing — left and right counts, which are separate production setups.
  • Quantity per model and surface, including whether floors differ.
  • Entrance door count and size, and whether double leaves are required.
  • Fire and plant room doors: quantity, size, escape direction, panic hardware requirement.

Apartment doors and common area doors are normally priced as separate groups. For high-volume work, sheet panel doors are a frequent choice: simpler patterns speed production, which leaves budget for a thicker leaf or a better lock configuration at the same total.

Packing, shipping and storage

In volume orders, most damage happens in transit and storage rather than in production, so packing deserves as much discussion as price. Leaves and frames matched and numbered as pairs let the site crew fit the right leaf to the right frame; an unnumbered consignment means trying doors until they fit.

Two storage rules earn their keep: doors stand vertically and supported, never flat, because stacked leaves mark under their own weight; and packs stay closed until installation day where site dust and damp are present.

Phased delivery reduces storage need and damage risk together. For export, containers are crated by floor or block rather than by model, so each one unloads into a single work front.

Installation responsibility and spares

Two clauses belong in writing. First, who installs — the manufacturer or the contractor's crew. Second, the acceptance criteria: even perimeter gaps, locks operating without force, the leaf holding position when left half open.

Spares are the last consideration and the most expensive to neglect. When a lock case fails in year two, a case of the same backset must be obtainable, so take a written schedule of lock, cylinder, lever and hinge types and hand it to building management — most of all for building entrance doors.

Approve one door before a hundred are built

Sample approval is the most important step in volume work and the most often skipped. Building one fully specified door and signing it off keeps an error from propagating across a whole order. Put the approval criteria in writing: surface colour and texture, leaf thickness, lock configuration and bolt engagement, hinge type, gasket continuity, architrave width, inside face colour.

There is a second benefit. The installation crew sees how the job will run on that one door, and the surprises that would have appeared in the first flat surface early instead. Keep the sample on site and compare production deliveries against it.

How volume pricing works

A wholesale price is not a single-door price divided by quantity. It is driven by the number of sizes, the number of models, the surface family, the lock configuration, the number of delivery phases, whether installation is included, and the delivery destination. The same quantity prices differently under two different size distributions.

So volume work is quoted per project rather than from a list. Send your quantity breakdown, size table and delivery schedule, and we will price the project and plan the shipments from Istanbul accordingly.
