How many hands does a steel door pass through before it reaches a buyer? Usually four: factory, regional distributor, retail store, installation subcontractor. Each takes a margin, but the margin is not the real issue. Each one is also a filter on information. A question about internal leaf reinforcement changes content on its way up the chain and back down.

How fast a change request is answered

This is where direct buying shows first. Moving the lock 5 cm down, deleting a louvre to make a flat leaf, switching handles to stainless steel: inside a factory these are technical decisions answered the same day. Through an intermediary the same question becomes a chain of emails and two or three days, and on an order already scheduled those days go straight onto the delivery date.

Your measurements actually entering production

Stock selling adapts your opening to the door: chasing out masonry, packing the frame void, hiding the rest behind the architrave. Buying from the maker puts your dimensions into production. Our standards are 90×200 cm clear opening for apartment doors with a 108×210 cm architrave edge, 145×215 cm clear for lobby and villa doors with a 165×223 cm architrave edge and 20-24 cm adjustable frame depth, and 90×200 cm clear for fire doors with a 104×208 cm architrave edge. Anything else is made to order, and on custom laser-cut steel doors leaf width, hinge count and lock position get recalculated together.

Batch colour consistency

If you are buying more than one door, having the whole batch coated in one run or cut from the same laminate roll matters. Shade drift between production batches is visible on light colours when two doors sit side by side. A buyer talking to the factory can specify it; a buyer taking stock off a shelf cannot. The same applies to a spare leaf years later, which depends on the finish code still being on file.

Who decides on a damaged delivery

Freight produces corner knocks, glass cracks and surface scratches. A long chain means a long decision. Direct, the people who built the leaf decide whether it is repaired or replaced. For export this weighs more, because a second shipment for one leaf is expensive, which is why packing standards and corner protection get agreed before loading.

Spare parts

Gasket sections can be proprietary, so buying from the source guarantees the profile fits. Lock replacement, hinge bearings and drop-seal rubbers all come back years later, and an archived finish code is what makes local repair possible instead of replacing a whole leaf.

The honest limits

Direct is not always better. A homeowner replacing one door today may be served faster by a stocked retailer. Factories apply minimum orders or lead times, and laser-cut patterns and special colours wait for line slots. If you want to see and touch a door first, ask for finish samples and the address of an installed reference instead.

How to order direct from Türkiye

Send the wall opening in centimetres and state which reference you measured, the hand of each door, the finish family, the hardware level, and your required delivery window. We quote against those numbers, crate leaves and frames separately with corner protection, then dispatch from Istanbul: trucks for European and Balkan buyers, containers for Gulf, North African and more distant markets. For volume orders, keeping one finish family and varying only colour shortens production; pressed sheet panel doors are the quickest line for large repeat quantities.
