How many door types does a 48-unit block need? Most tender lists show one line: "steel door, 48 pcs". On site the picture is different: 48 apartment entrances, two double-leaf lobby sets, five stairwell escape doors, a shelter exit, two shaft hatches per floor, plus generator and switchboard room doors. Every line has its own requirement, its own lead time and its own way of being measured.
Apartment doors: volume with tight tolerance
The economics of a repeat order depend on dimensional consistency. If structural openings vary by 2-3 cm from floor to floor, the batch advantage disappears. The workable method is to leave openings to the 90×200 cm clear frame standard, install frames before plastering, and fit architraves after plaster and floor finishes so the 108×210 cm architrave edge lands clean. Mark door hand (left or right) on the floor plan; unmarked hand means leaf swaps on site.
Lobby entrances
A lobby door cycles hundreds of times a day against a few dozen for an apartment door, so hinge sizing and door closer selection carry more weight here. Our standard is 145×215 cm clear with a 165×223 cm architrave edge and frame depth adjustable between 20 and 24 cm, which covers the difference between concrete and brick wall thicknesses with one frame type. For double-leaf sets, decide early which leaf stays fixed and how the second leaf opens for furniture moves. Glazed panels must be tempered. Our building entrance door range includes mailbox, transom-glazed and intercom-cutout variants.
Escape routes
Fire resistance duration comes from the architectural drawings, not from a site decision. Check the opening direction follows the escape route, panic hardware on the escape face with keyed access outside, a closer that latches the door every time, a sequence selector on double leaves, and intumescent seals for cold smoke. Fire resistance belongs to a tested assembly, leaf, frame, hinges, lock, seals and installation together, so substituting a component voids the claim. Send us the rating from your drawings and we will confirm the matching fire door system.
Shaft and technical hatches
This line is remembered last and delays projects most. Shaft hatch sizes are never standard; they follow the services layout floor by floor. Meter and switchboard niches need a lock type that suits building management, whether a common key, a padlock lug or a triangular key. Where a hatch sits inside a fire compartment, its rating matches the floor doors.
Delivery sequencing and freight
Doors that arrive too early get damaged; too late and the programme slips. Two-stage delivery works: frames before plastering, leaves and architraves at finishing stage. Leaves standing upright on a wet slab suffer at the bottom edge, so storage matters. For export projects, confirm lift dimensions, stair turning radius and floor count before shipment, and we will plan crating accordingly. Loading is from Istanbul, by road to Europe and the Balkans or in containers elsewhere, and we will tell you the door count per container for your mix.
Where to cut cost
If the door budget has to come down, take it out of surface pattern, never out of the lock set, hinges or frame gauge. Pattern changes are visible but harmless; weak locking and thin frames come back as service costs within two years. Keeping one finish family across a project and varying only colour shortens production time and simplifies spare parts. Send your schedule and floor plans and we will quote line by line against your measurements.
