Dokuma draws attention with a vertical rectangular bronze-brown panel resembling a woven fabric texture of fine square cells, set along the left edge of a plain white panel, the regular repetition of the cells giving it a tactile, organic feel. Just to the right of the textured panel sits a plain wood-toned vertical bar handle, with a cylinder lock above it and another below.
The plainness of the white ground makes the textured panel's detail stand out even more. Built from small square cells, the bronze panel reads as a flat block from the far end of the landing and as a woven surface up close.
If the leaf narrows we trim the panel's width rather than shrink the cells, so the weave keeps its density.
