Bölüm brings together a balanced composition of a narrow honey-toned wood panel on the left and a wide white panel divided into four sections by thin horizontal lines on the right, the clear vertical division giving the door an orderly structure. On the wood panel, a horizontal bar handle and a cylinder lock keep things plain, while the four equal white sections set up a steady rhythm.
Beside the broad white panel the narrow timber one reads almost as an edge, and that inequality is where Bölüm's balance comes from; make the two sides equal and the design disappears. The number of divisions follows the height - a tall door gets five instead of four, so each one keeps the same depth.
