Kabuk places a large oval form at the centre of a dark walnut-toned surface for a simple yet clear focal point, filled with thin dashed vertical lines reminiscent of the natural texture of a shell or eggshell surface. The field outside the oval stays completely empty, directing all attention to the motif.
The cream-coloured laser-cut lines create a clear contrast against the dark wood field. A vertical black bar handle sits at the centre, with a small peephole above it.
The vertical lines inside the oval give the door the texture of a shell, so Kabuk holds an organic form on a minimal surface. The oval is sized to the leaf: on a wider door we lengthen it rather than widen it, which keeps the form from swelling.
