Menfez adds an extra band of light to the entrance with a wide glass transom divided by vertical bars running above its gray-brown wood main leaf, the transom spanning the full width of the door for a monumental effect. Narrow fixed side panels display a ladder-like texture of thin horizontal glass lines.
A small square pane is set at the middle of the main leaf, with the curved pull handle just beneath it. The slatted glass transom drops daylight into the hall even with the door closed, and in a double-height villa entrance it fills the space above as well; too few slats leave it looking like a bare pane, so the count follows the width.
